Bill Venardos Park
Bill Venardos Park is a small, leafy community space in the heart of Caloundra, located adjacent to the Caloundra Administration Building. The project is a part of a broader $45.4 million Caloundra Administration Building and Library plan.
The area offers a lush green space with public seating and natural shade, and it is a perfect spot for visitors to relax and enjoy the natural surround.

The Brief
Hutchinson Builders wanted to create a lush, vibrant green space to complement the Caloundra Administration Building. The vision was to create a sustainable public space that supports the community while meeting the demand for extended seating, serving both the adjacent building occupants and locals passing through.
The client wanted to have a safe and open deck to complete the welcoming space. The space was designed to increase open greenery to enhance the sites ecological value and overall amenity. A key priority was the careful preservation of the established trees on site, ensuring they were protected and maintained throughout the project.
Meeting the Brief
To ensure no existing trees were impacted, extensive vacuum excavation was undertaken for all deck post installations under the supervision of a local arborist. The project involved comprehensive site preparation, the installation of a new decking subframe and composite decking, and the addition of steel garden edging to define the landscaped areas. The new deck structure activates the space, creating a welcoming outdoor area complemented by thoughtfully integrated furniture.
Overall, the project increased usable green space, improving both the look and ecological value.
